Vanessa, who paints under the alias Clover Rae Decora, is not your average artist. Her medium of choice? Everyday items like pots and empty wine bottles, which she transforms into dazzling, anime themed collectibles. From epic battle scenes to tender character moments, each piece she creates is a miniature story painted with care, emotion, and a deep love for anime culture.

“I started painting anime bottles as a way to merge my passion for anime with sustainable art practices,” she explains. “Recycling wine bottles into one of a kind collectibles allows me to bring a sense of joy, nostalgia, and representation to Malawi’s art and nerd culture scene.”

Vanessa's inspiration stems from beloved shows like Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Naruto, and One Piece series that ignited her imagination from a young age. But her creativity doesn’t stop there. She draws on everything from nature to emotions and even personal stories shared by clients who order customized pieces.

Clover Rae Decora is more than just an art brand; it's a movement. Vanessa’s mission is to grow her practice into a cultural hub, one that celebrates anime and empowers fellow young artists in Malawi. Her ultimate dream? To open a studio or gallery, collaborate at conventions, and showcase Malawian art on global platforms.

“I want to build something that inspires both nerds and non nerds alike,” she says.
